Bunyoro Mourns Fallen Hoima District Chairperson
Leaders in Bunyoro are mourning the death of the Hoima district chairperson Kirungi Kadiri who perished last night in an accident in Kiboga district along Kampala Hoima road.
The Hoima district Chairperson aged 47 and his bodyguard Bosco Otim aged 25 died in an accident that occurred on Friday at around 9 pm at Kateera, Mataagi village, Bukomero, Kiboga district along the Hoima-Kampala Highway.
A somber mood hoovers around the Bunyoro sub-region; this follows the untimely death of the Hoima district chairperson Kirungi Kadiri who perished in an accident on Friday night.
Kirungi was driving a vehicle registration number UAH 053Q Prado heading to Kampala collided with a Fuso fighter registration number UBB 059Z that was loaded with bricks heading to Kiboga side.
SB-DAN- WAS AT SCENE OF INCIDENT ( the vehicles collided head to head, and Fuso pushed the chairman’s car to the side of the road, it seems they were all over speeding and trying to dodge a pothole or someone slept over)
According to police, the unidentified driver of a Fuso fled the scene, ITS SAID he was trying to dodge a pothole at Mataagi bridge and the motor vehicle swerved off from its lane to the thright-handnd side and met with Kadir’s vehicle making a head-on collision.
The bodies of the deceased were first taken to Kiboga Hospital mortuary and later brought to the o Hoima Regional Referral Hospital casualty ward.
While at Hoima regional referral hospital, several leaders have described him as a good communicator, a humble man, and result oriented.
The Hoima District Vice Chairperson Benson Chiche revealed that his boss had official engagements in Kampala and opted to travel in the night.
Our reporter has reached the home of Kadiri Kirungi in Buswekera, Hoima Ci, ty, and found a somber mood as preparations for the burial are underway.
Kadir, serving his second term in office started his hipoliticalal career as a Hoima District Youth Councilor from 2001 to 2006, he became a district councilor of Busiisi Sub County from 2006-2011. He became the Hoima District Chairperson in 2016.
