HIV Prevalence In Kisamula Mpigi District High, Attributed To Limited Awareness Campaign.
The government has been urged to extend HIV awareness campaigns to the grassroots level to reduce the recent hiking in infections in some parts of the country.
This follows high numbers that embraced the community Camp which was organized in Kisamula Village in Mpigi District where many community members ended up testing positive.
According to Uganda Aids Commission, HIV Prevalence is currently at 5.1% and in the 2022 report there HIV new infections were 52000, with 35% of the new infections being among young people between 15- 25 years.

The high rate of HIV Infections was attributed to a lack of adequate awareness Campaigns about avoiding getting infected with HIV, saying that information they have some people who are HIV Positive and were on ARVS and later abandoned it hence putting their lives in danger.
Nabalwanyi further revealed that the increase in other diseases in the area is due to poverty because many people can afford private hospitals or transport to government health facilities.
Dr Phiona Mutesi Medical Services coordinator under TASO Uganda in Mulago explained that the barriers that get with HIV Patients are the clients that abandon medication though they make the follow-up to ensure that they are on medication.
Dr Mutesi also highlighted that as TASO they recommend Starting treatment to those that have tested positive.
She also highlighted on dangers of not starting treatment when someone tests positive such as multilply on the virus hence weakening the body's immunity.
Joseph Matovu chief organizer of the community Health Camp also explained why they have decided to organize the community health camp in Kisamula Village especially to promote the HIV Awareness campaign.
