Minister Launches Construction Of A Sh1.5bn Road In Kakumiro

 

The State Minister for Transport and Works Fred Byamukama earlier launched the construction of a 20km Road from Kitaihuka-Buruko-Nkazekorera worth sh1.5bn with residents jubilating with a feeling of relief in the area.

The minister assured locals of the government’s commitment to rehabilitate and construct feeders and access roads in Kakumiro and Bunyoro regions.

Minister Byamukama who is also the Bugangaizi West MP While launching the construction yesterday affirmed that the government is committed to constructing and rehabilitating the interconnectivity of feeder and access roads worth over sh15bn in the region as well as oil and presidential pledged roads in Bunyoro sub-region.

He further noted that the government has spearheaded water projects, irrigation schemes, health centres and schools asking Kakumiro residents to take advantage of the established projects.

William Kabiho, the commissioner in the Ministry of Works and Transport who represented the permanent secretary for transport Bageya Waiswa clarified that the construction of the interconnectivity of roads has no compensation advising residents to allow the construction with ease.

Major retired David Matovu, the Kakumiro Resident District Commissioner and Kakumiro residents expressed happiness towards the government for total commitment to constructing and rehabilitating major roads in Bunyoro believing this will help develop the region more as transportation is a key in driving businesses.

The construction of the connectivity of roads is contracted to GIK Construction and Engineering.
