In a bid to celebrate 39 years of existence, Mukono Diocese has organized several activities, and among them is the All Schools Run Against Domestic Violence.
According to the organizers, there is a lack of awareness of domestic violence especially among children, and through such a campaign, people would be equipped with knowledge.
The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday the 24th of February 2024 at Uganda Christian University in Mukono.
In celebration of 39 years, Mukono Diocese held a press conference that will see off the all-school run against Domestic violence, a campaign that will take place on 24th February 2024 at Uganda Christian University. This is among the many other events that are being prepared to celebrate the Diocese's anniversary.
The team addressing media was led by the Diocesan Secretary Rev Can John Sebudde who let out the reason of having such a campaign, which is to create awareness about the ongoing violence in homes.
Though organized by the diocese, this activity is being spearheaded by the children's department and Rev Asaph Kawuma Mabirizi the Children's Coordinator in Mukono Diocese shed light on the whole program for the day.
According to the Children's Coordinator, there will be a specialist at the event to educate the children on how to identify and report domestic violence cases.
Driven by the aspirations of the Bishop Emeritus Ssebagala, the Diocese intends to construct a rehabilitation Centre and Rev Asaph shares insights on how it will operate.
Stakeholders including the In charge of the youth department in Mukono Diocese and a representative from Rosefoam also shared concerns about domestic violence as they called upon people to embrace the All School Run Against Domestic Violence.
