New Kumi Diocese Bishop Enthroned
The Diocese of Kumi received Rev. Okwi Esakhan Micheal as their new Bishop on Sunday in a ceremony that was presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu.
Bishop Michael Okwii Esakahn who has been the Ecclesiastical Authority of Kumi Diocese was elected by the House of Bishops on 9th Feb 2022.
Rt. Rev. John Charles Odurkami who has been the caretaker of the Diocese highlighted the challenges in his role and encouraged him to rely on God before ceremoniously handing over to the Bishop for installation.
Bishop Okwii's acceptance of responsibility with the words "so help me God" was met with loud chants and cheers from the witnesses.
Archbishop Kazimba charged Bishop Okwii to preach the true gospel that brings people to salvation in Jesus Christ, Savior of the world but also conversion of the hands that people may work and enjoy the fruit of development and to recover from the two years transition unrest they suffered.
In his first message as newly enthroned, Bishop Okwii preached peace and unity, calling on everyone to imitate Christ.
Surrounded by hundreds of guests including Ministers, MPs, religious leaders from different faiths and a crowd of believers, Bishop Esakhan was consecrated and enthroned at St.Philip's Cathedral, Ngora.
