Believers Encouraged To Pray For The Nation Ahead Of The 15th Polls

Believers Encouraged To Pray For The Nation Ahead Of The 15th Polls

With the country counting down to polling day on the 15th, churches across the nation today turned their focus to prayer, peace and leadership.

Under the theme “The Christian Role in Choosing Leaders,” believers were urged to seek God’s guidance, maintain unity and reject violence as the elections draw closer.

Religious leaders emphasized discernment, responsibility, and peaceful coexistence as Christians prepare to head to the polls.

“The Christian Role in Choosing Leaders” was the theme that crowned the day at All Saints’ Cathedral, drawn from Philippians 2:1–7 and Matthew 20:26.

The preacher of the day, the Diocesan Secretary of the Diocese of Kampala, Rev. Dr. Henry Majwala, encouraged Christians to remain united and be one in spirit. He called upon believers to continue praying for the nation as the country heads into elections, urging them to exercise discernment as they choose their leaders.

Over at Namirembe Cathedral, Christians were encouraged to uphold peace and pray for the nation as the country heads into the general elections. The youth, in particular, were warned against engaging in chaos and instead urged to embrace peace and the joy of the Lord.

We then crossed to St. Stephen’s Kisugu COU, where “The Christian Role in Choosing Leaders” was the topic of the day. Christians were urged to choose their leaders wisely, not based on popularity, but on their ability to lead in a righteous and Godly manner. The preacher also emphasized the dangers of choosing the wrong leaders.

At St. Francis Chapel, Makerere, “God’s Kingdom: Our Sin and the Need for a Saviour” was the theme of the day.

Christians were urged to turn away from sin and embrace Christ in their hearts, reminding them that He came to take away the sins of the world.

Over at Kakumba Chapel, Kyambogo University, Christians were urged to vote for responsible leaders and called upon to respect those placed in authority by God.
